Over many years of golfing I’ve had the opportunity to try many different fitting experiences including brand demo days, big box store fittings, small independent golf shop fittings, and the likes of True Spec ( and similar companies). IMO it is important to understand what you will be getting from these various fittings and what you can expect to pay (not just the fitting fee but also cost to purchase). True Spec fittings will be the most comprehensive but also the most expensive. For my most recent iron fitting at True Spec Boston, my fitter was extremely good. With so many iron heads and shafts to choose from it can be both a positive and a negative, but my fitter was able to narrow down what I tried based on my swing characteristics, but he also explained why we avoided some models I had expected to try (the usual big name brands in the players iron category). The True Spec Boston facilities are also top notch. From a fitting perspective I rate True Spec a 5/5. When it comes to purchasing cost, I rate them 3/5. My main issue is the premium price for aftermarket shafts. You can certainly take the specs provided at the end of the fitting and have the clubs built elsewhere at a lower price. However, for iron sets specifically, the post build fitting to get loft, lie, and distance gapping perfect might be the most important part and thus worth the premium price.

Great experience with Cody. Did the full bag fitting (no putter) across two days, he was flexible with scheduling. The experience was fun and enjoyable and he had some good tips that helped me get the most out of it. I had the clubs shipped to the location and was able to hit the new set to get comfortable with the gaps/distances. Excellent communication throughout. Expensive, but it's an investment and I'm super confident with the set I ended up with.
